The Volkswagen ID. Polo is a confirmed electric hatchback for Europe, not a confirmed U.S. model. Volkswagen has opened German pre-sales, published battery, range and charging specifications, and confirmed a starting German price of €24,995 for the entry-level version. It has not announced a U.S. launch date, American MSRP, EPA range rating or U.S.-market charging specification.

German price and European ordering status

Volkswagen began German pre-sales for the initial 52 kWh ID. Polo Life at the end of April 2026. That version, with a 155 kW electric motor, started at €33,795 in Germany.

On July 16, 2026, Volkswagen opened pre-sales for the more affordable 37 kWh versions. The ID. Polo Trend starts at €24,995 in Germany, while the 37 kWh Life and Style versions start at €29,195.

These are German consumer prices, not U.S. MSRPs. A currency conversion would not reveal a likely American price because vehicle pricing differs by taxes, standard equipment, shipping, exchange rates, distribution costs and local incentives. German pre-sales also confirm that customers can order the vehicle there; they do not, by themselves, establish delivery timing in every European country.

The smaller battery is central to the ID. Polo’s lower entry price. The larger pack provides the longer published range and is paired with the highest-output regular-production motor currently detailed by Volkswagen. Choosing between them is chiefly a question of how much driving flexibility a buyer needs between charging stops and how much they are willing to spend.

Why Volkswagen lists both 329 km and 334 km

Earlier Volkswagen launch information listed the 37 kWh ID. Polo with up to 329 km of WLTP range. Volkswagen’s newer July 16 release lists up to 334 km. The 334 km figure is therefore the better current reference for the 37 kWh version, while 329 km should be understood as an earlier published forecast or specification.

WLTP is the European laboratory test cycle used for vehicle comparisons. It is not a promise that every driver will achieve the stated distance. Temperature, speed, terrain, cabin heating or cooling, cargo and driving style all affect actual energy use. If Volkswagen introduces the ID. Polo in the United States, it would need a U.S.-market EPA range rating rather than a simple conversion of its WLTP result.

DC fast charging

Volkswagen says DC charging is standard across the ID. Polo range. For the 37 kWh battery, it quotes a maximum DC charging rate of 90 kW and an approximate 10% to 80% charging time of 23 minutes under suitable conditions. The 52 kWh version is rated at up to 105 kW DC charging.

A peak charging figure is only part of the picture. A charging session depends on the charger’s capability, battery temperature, starting state of charge and the vehicle’s charging curve. For trip planning, the quoted 10% to 80% time is usually more useful than assuming the vehicle will hold its maximum rate throughout a session.

Trims, performance and technology

Volkswagen has identified Trend, Life and Style as the regular ID. Polo trim lines. The confirmed motor lineup includes 85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW outputs, equivalent to 116 hp, 135 hp and 211 hp respectively. Volkswagen has not provided final U.S.-style 0–60 mph figures, and none should be assumed for a market that has not been announced.

The company also plans an ID. Polo GTI, but its overview says that model will follow in 2027. Its final specifications, equipment and market availability remain subject to Volkswagen’s later announcements.

Volkswagen has directly confirmed that its broader Electric Urban Car Family received more than 70,000 orders within weeks, including 25,000 orders for the ID. Polo. That makes the widely reported 25,000 figure an official company claim, not an unverified media estimate.

It is still important to describe the number accurately. Orders are not the same as registrations, deliveries or completed sales. The announcement indicates early customer demand, but it does not establish how many ID. Polos have been delivered in any particular country.

Will the Volkswagen ID. Polo be sold in the United States?

Volkswagen’s official materials describe the ID. Polo as a European-market vehicle. As of September 19, 2026, the sources reviewed do not confirm a U.S. launch, U.S. dealer availability, American MSRP, EPA range rating, U.S. warranty terms or U.S.-market charging hardware.
